Poles of Unity

The Poles of Unity project sponsored by the City of Seattle Office of Arts and Culture was made to show the great diversity in the Rainier Valley. As a part of the Rainier Valley Greenway project the poles are used to signify the cultures that represent the area and how each culture comes together to create one community. The poles were created on 6x6 poles representing African American, Filipino, Hispanic, Chinese, Native American, Italian, and Japanese cultures. Each culture has it's own distinct imagery and icons making them their own but also a part of one whole project. The Poles of Unity will be installed on August 31st and will be up for a duration of one year. Be sure to check it out while it's up!
